I'm having a real problem with the oil pressure sender leaking oil. Third time I've taken it apart. I will anneal the copper washer before putting it back together. Should I use any type of sealant on the threads? I wouldn't think with the copper washer any should be used and it may foul the crush seal. _________________ Mike

It's possible the tapered thread was damaged by a previous owner, as that fitting is an oddball tapered size, and I've seen people screw in standard non-tapered fittings there.
I would be cautious about putting any thread sealer on. I would try a small dab of blue loctite on both sides of the copper crush washer and see how that does first. Rasta mentioned this approach for the turbo oil cooler seals and it has been very effective for me in that application, I see no reason why it wouldn't work for the OPS. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I may have had the wrong washer on it. There is an unthreaded recessed section on the sender and my washer looks like it didn't get to the threads. I miked it at .100 thick, Harbor Freight mike so everything in perspective. I had some used compression washers off of some Ford truck calipers with the same ID, larger OD and .115 thick so I annealed one and tried it. It appeared to cover a thread or 2. I installed it Rasta's standards. We'll see how it works.
Note to self get a WeatherPak two pin connector so that next time it can just be unplugged. _________________ Mike
