1988 924S "Special Edition"
109*** original miles
Nearly all original. The only mods I've found so far are the radio head unit, some aftermarket under-bumper driving lights (which will be easy to remove), and possibly the cloth seats (which may have been recovered...more on that later).
Options list:
C02: catalytic converter
030: M030 suspension package (confirmed intact)
160: Charleston head unit (missing, already searching for replacement)
360: rear mud guards
526: cloth door panels
573: air conditioning
657: power steering
756: special edition package
990: cloth seats
Other things of note:
Sunroof delete
Dual manual mirrors
It even still has the 944-style rub moldings on the doors that were unique to the SE version.
Runs, drives, and shifts very nicely, has reputedly been garage-kept its entire life, and the lack of fading on the carpet and condition of the original paint seems to bear that out.
Pictorial reveal to follow once we complete the last leg of the trip this afternoon. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I had a white 87 for about 2 years. Hopefully, this one will be more reliable than the 87! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I realized I never did upload photos of "Eddy". Here are pix right from April 2014 right after we arrived home from South Carolina:
Still need to do a full photo shoot. Since acquiring it, I've gotten some 7J & 8Jx16 phone dials, replaced all the dampers with Koni adjustables, installed a strut brace, installed a performance throttle cam, swapped the 3-spoke steering wheel for the smaller 4-spoke leather-wrapped "sport" wheel, flushed and replaced brake fluid, replaced the shift gaiter trim piece, and installed a Rogue Tuning NA-Tune+MAF kit.
List of add'l mods in the queue:
- Porsche script exterior door handles
- swap power rack for manual rack
- lower ride height
- alignment
- new tires
- A/C delete
- FOES, with underdrive pulleys and offset cam key
- Euro bumpers _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Eddy accompanied by sibling 937 and 79 Sebring at last year's Concours D'Elegance Porsche Corral at the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth MI:

Last summer, I acquired staggered 7&8x16 phone dials, had them cleaned up, powder coated, and reshod:
I also found an excellent local resource for powder coating:
A couple of weeks ago, I finally got Eddy over to Bart's shop (BTR-Chicago) where he is doing the following work for me:
• Front of Engine Service
• Install lightweight drive gears and balance shaft gears
• Install adjustable cam gear
• Install 4° offset cam key
• Install underdrive pulleys
• Swap existing camshaft into powder-coated cam tower
• Swap on rebuilt / decked head
• Swap on powder-coated intake manifold
• Swap on MSDS Gen 2 exhaust header
• Remove A/C compressor and install A/C delete bracket
• Remove P/S pump, leave rack but de-powered
• Swap in solid engine mounts
• Swap in 951 oil cooler and filter console
• Replace fan temp switch
I had the head decked to raise CR by about 1/2 point (this is an 88 SE, so it already has the 10.2:1 pistons), and I've already installed the NATune+MAF kit, which really transformed the car. I am excited to see how these additional modifications amplify the NATune+MAF conversion.
Progress pix courtesy of BTR (hoping to pick up this coming weekend):

Already have it, will be installing it as soon as I get it back from Bart
Also have a special trans in the works, along with an alu flywheel + stage 3 spec clutch disc. As soon as the trans is prepped and ready to go in, I'll do the whole trans-flywheel-clutch as a package install. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I also think that motor deserves some fresh zinc...at least the heater pipe! _________________ Toofah King Bad
