I'm starting this tread as a resource thread to document my progress in retooling this car into an everyday driver.

Helpful online resources for information and parts have been

944online.com
ianseuroparts.com
pelicanparts.com
Clarks Garage fantastic
924.org (your here already)
rockauto.com

I did some research regarding PARTS AVAILABLITY before pulling the trigger on this car. I was surprised by the vast and reasonable price range.

It's only been used around the neighborhood while I am shaking things out. The previous owner (3 years of ownership) barley drove it. I've put on around 1000 miles in the short time I've owned it. It's been drive and fix... experience (but that's why I bought it) expectations were that almost everything is going to need attention.

I had never owned a Porsche (my other vehicle is an F150). The gf talked me out of the 92 Harley I was looking at. 4 wheels seemed a safer mode. So when people ask, I tell them that it's my HD.

In Closing.
I'm looking forward to many hours-under the chassis on my back turning wrenches.

Have two '88s, one is an SE, and the other one is in tear-down rebuild mode. The engine is about the same mileage as yours. And, I found the head gasket to be quite a wreck. It fell apart once I removed it. I pulled the engine, since it needed a new clutch, plus belts, rollers, gaskets, o-rings, etc. If you are interested in setting yours up as a daily driver, I recommend you pull the engine, pop the head (following clark's garage tutorials), and do the same thing. It's not cheap though, about 1200 bucks or so; if you replace motor mounts, which is advisable, add a few more bucks.
