Another great finish to the season. The Sunday race did not go as planned, but on Saturday I took second in a 13 car field.
Here's a neat perspective on racing a 924. This video is from Art Jaso's MR2. He came in 3rd on Saturday, right behind me. At the start you can see him getting ahead of me. Around the 4 minute mark Kevin's BMW 2002 leaves the track in front of him (he broke a spindle-he's OK and the car will race again) and I start chasing Art down. If you look in the top right corner you can see my car clearly in his mirror. From there until about 8:25 I'm tailing him. I make the pass going into 1, but he almost get's me back going into turn 3.
The rest of the video shows me getting away, but AJ puts up a fight. Around 14:16 I catch the purple ITC colt and have a hard time getting by. AJ goes around her easily and makes up ground. The next interesting bit starts at 16:28 when the Black ITS BMW gets around AJ and starts making my life difficult. I held my line going into 6 and he had to slam on his brakes to bail out on a dive bomb. AJ said afterwards his plan was to follow the black BMW through.
From there it was smooth to the checker. _________________ Hayes Lewis

Cool stuff...
Good driving there. You've come along well! That ITS BMW should've been a bit smarter about working through the leaders of another class, with no-one near him. Easy to do those passes on the straights with such a power differential; he would've been wise to wait one more turn.
Of course, learning to wait is one of the hardest lessons in racing.
Looks like you're leaving a bit more track on the table, try to use all of it next time... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Very nice and good luck. This track is very nice and where I would lose ground is right after the esses. Good job once again.

Thanks for all the feedback.
As for the T-6 incident I would not do it that way again and I'm glad Chuck was quick on the brakes.
It may look like I moved to the left then closed the door, but at the time all I was thinking about was driving my line. I figured he'd tuck in and blow by me coming out of the carousel. They taught us in drivers school to get our left wheel all the way left on a little bit of extra pavement before turning in. I now know that going that far left makes it look like you're opening the door. I'd do it differently next time and I'm glad I got to learn this lesson the "easy" way.
On the other hand as Vaughan said there was no reason to even attempt that move.
In the end the best trophy is being able to drive your car back on the trailer without needing to do bodywork.
Having video from a chase car is really eye opening. _________________ Hayes Lewis
