|
|
Some POs have neglected the CIS system on the Toofah
by faulty diagnosis, or the complete lack thereof ,
and that's why/when they end up at Craigslist for a box of chocolates…
Getting and keeping your Toofah on the road means you'll have to check up the amount of fuel she's fed to make sure the CIS is fully functional and deviating valeus on one of its components can be dealt with in time. By either reading up here or going through the Haynes Manual you can make sure your Toofah gets that healthy dosis of fuel into its mixture by taking out the gremlins with a DIY Fuel Pressure Tester.
How does it work?
Simply collect all the parts (~eight) needed for a CIS Test Kit locally or order online and assamble them together safely at your kitchen table before going out testing.
Over at VdubVortex the guys build there own CIS Test Kit for less then $50 bugs on parts.
…It's pretty easy actually!
I bed you guys wanna look into that

Apparently the biggest problem for members across the pond
is finding these metric fittings (12MM diameter with 1.5 thread)
but that problem will be tackled by nowadays online parts stores, suppliers & distributors…
Please share results, upgrades and observations.
Hope This Helps
Kind Regards,
Harm. _________________ Porsche 924 NA 1982 LY7A/A3A3 _ Greater driving pleasure never harmed anyone. |

If one was unable to build a simple instrument as the Fuel Pressure Tester mentioned, he or she will
most likely have inadequate skills to work on the Contineus Injection System aka Bosch K-Jetronic.
Such a person would preferably leave the Toofah in the hands of a well trained mechanic.
…which subsequently deletes the need to acquire a Fuel Pressure Tester Kit.

Great link, which contains an even better link!
I'm trying to build this tool, I was not able to find it on Ideola's Site.
Clearly assembly is not an issue, the service at Autozone and Oreileys (or lack thereof) has needlessly cost me quite some time however. The $150 autozone tool did allow me to determine that my regulated pressure seems to be high, however I cannot test system pressure without a valve.
I got most of the parts from my local family owned hardware store, and would like to be able to discuss sources and part numbers for the metric fittings here if anyone else is interested. |

I am having problems finding the 12x1.5mm fittings. Mcmaster-Carr won't ship to Canada and even Swagelok doesn't have parts of that size listed.
Some part numbers would be great. _________________ 1981 924 N/A (Now the parts car)

Try Belmetric. They have an excellent selection of metric fittings, including banjo style eyelets and bolts. https://www.belmetric.com/ _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

You can also purchase a complete kit from http://www.specialtauto.com/ as Delorean's also used the k jet system. _________________ Melanie - 1980 931
