Hi,

I am normally a regular fixture on the Pelican board and a 944 guy. I have an '88 951, and have has another one of those (1986), a '65-'69 912/911 hybrid, and a 924S.

This weekend I made a deal for a 924 "Sebring Edition". I have always liked unique variants. I just sort of stumbled on it, really. I am trading it for a truck, and the owner is throwing in a 1969 911, The 911 is a bit too far gone for my budget to restore, so I will most likely part it out to make some money.

Anyway, the 924 needs a fuel pump allegedly, otherwise it runs.

Is there any way in the known universe to source replacement red and blue tartan plaid cloth? I saw the decal set somewhere, (it has a fairly fresh repaint but needs the decals, It has the black wheels with the polished lips. It is all stock, and I want to restore it to factory condition eventually, but drive it regularly.

The 951 is evolving into more of a track car...I want something more practical that isn't a Corolla!

Jeff

I'll get some pics up soon.

Cool Ditch! I too have looked for the tartan cloth - I'd like to do my 944 interior up in tartan someday.

There were a few places in Europe that had old stock of tartan fabrics for Porsches and VWs. Also, I've heard there are places that will recreate fabric in your pattern.

Pics of the new beast please, especially that kooky interior!

Well, I sure hope I can find something.

txjake, I'll have to give a little more thought on what to do with it.

I'll let you know.

I was looking to replace my cloth interior with cloth from here but it was out of my budget.

Welcome aboard!
The "Sebring Edition" is pretty unique to us ROW folks
Haven't seen one out on the street around here

+1
order through them and you might as well treat yourself on a new dash

US source red & blue tartan plaid cloth:
www.autobahninteriors.com in San Diego, US
…might bring down the shipping cost

Be carefull ordering through Auto Atlanta
Someone in the US should look into reproducing the Sebring 79 set.

Kind regards,
Harm.

Well....looks like this one did not pan out for me, long story.

However, I have a line from a friend on a ONE OWNER 1977 (we think) 924.

Friend of a friend's mom bought it new, drove it pretty infrequently (under 75,000 miles for sure), and it started overheating at some point. So they parked it in the garage...in the 1990's.

And there it has sat since. So I would be looking at just about everything rubber being replaced, tires, etc., but I may be able to get it for a song, as in come get it for a couple hundred bucks. Almost sounds too good to be true.

My friend and his buddy call it the guy's mom's "time capsule Porsche", from what I hear it is just pristine but dusty...

We shall see, and I will of course have pics of the whole experience if it pans out. I have for sure decided I am getting SOME kind of 924, even if this doesn't work out.

I, personally, sure hope it does.

Jeff

Take a trip and pick up Derek's (CorsePerVita) 79 924 in Redmond, OR. He'd pick you up at the airport in it
