I suppose I should post a comment on how the car is performance wise since that is the point of the thread. It is still early on in the game and I have not pushed it to its limits but it is more formidable than a stock 951. Handling seems almost unchanged, at least I have not noticed a difference, but then again I have not tried any drifting or extreme cornering.
Low end torque is excessive and takes some getting used to. First gear is very seldom used and only very briefly, if I have come to a complete stop. The car will spin the tires in second gear without dumping the clutch. 5th gear seems absolutely too low, but really all the gears seem too low. It would feel great if the shifting started at 2nd then to 3rd to 5th to a taller gear yet. I cant wait to get my taller geared early 944 tranny with LSD in there.
The LT1 sounds absolutely beastly on the road.

People stare alot, guess they are unsure what the hell it is. All and in all I am quite glad I did the work, but there is still alot of sorting to do.

Installed o2 sensors today and hooked up MAF. The car runs much better with a noticeable increase in power. Took it out and opened it up raising my revs to between 4500 and 5000 on shifts. It is truly a little monster but still needs a taller 5th gear.

Remarkably the 944 radiator and cooling fans have done well to keep the lt1 cool. I predict the need for a bigger radiator come summer though.

This is a limited slip unit but thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I have to fix third gear synchro.

Here is the transmission that will be going in. It is a LSD unit with the tall 5th gear. If i remember right third gear was easy to snag so I will probably be splitting this unit and replacing the synchro.

I removed the sheet metal blocking the radiator. I was going to do this a long time ago when I opened up the bumper but had many irons in the fire at the time. The main point is to get better air flow, but there will be an oil cooler going in there soon, and maybe an intercooler in the far future...

For structural support I welded in a tubular brace between the frame rails.

I kept the tow loop as it has been handy in the past.

My old high flow bumper in place.

And squirrel fence...

Things may go from crazy to insane sooner than I thought. On somewhat of an accident I lined up a set of performance heads, ported intake, agressive cam, and 58mm throttle body by BBK Edelbrock that a guy had just sitting around. Too early for sure figures, but were looking at between 400 and 420HP ballpark.

Finished the 3" exhaust today, all except for a muffler tip which will come later.

As soon as I get the turbo back on my 951S I will be digging back into the LT1. Sitting in the garage are ported high flow heads, ported intake, monster throttle body, and race cam. Will post some pictures when I get around to it.

New intake. Port matched to the 58mm throttle body and ported heads.
