Hey all, I'm new to the forum and new to the Porsche family as well. I picked up an 87 924S for my daughter. The car is a 5-speed and is fairly clean. We have replaced the timing belt, water pump, tires and a few other odds and ends. The 2.5 runs great but has an issue idling high. When started cold, the engine revs to about 1500 rpm then up to 2300 as she warms up. I've checked for vacuum leaks and haven't found any. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks.

Welcome to the board!

Check to make sure the throttle position switch is working properly.

Here's a great source of troubleshooting info:

The DME is located above the driver's left knee.

Changed the TPS with a used one.... idle is down to 1400 rpm, still a little high.

Changed that too. It is now idling about 900 on start-up and gets to about 1050 when warm. I can live with that. Next project is to get the heat to stop blowing constantly and find the short on the left low beam.

Heater valve is controlled by a simple cable.

Check your fuses, there are four for the headlights, one for each filament.
