Well, just got the head to the shop so I figured I will be working at a pace where I can post pics and progress at a pretty good pace.
My project has three major phases:
First phase is the engine and interior
Second is the suspension and brakes
Third is repainting the outside
I am slogging through the first phase and have been for a few months - mostly tracing part - fuel lines - and shedding quite a bit of poundage.
Here are some before pics and after (mostly of the engine). Pulley was powder coated and the block was painted with high temp engine enamel. Block, pistons, crank, flywheel, oil pan where all taken to the machine shop to be cleaned and checked for tolerances - to which the shop told me the darn thing looked like it was brand new!!! ( Kudos to you Dan if you are on here!!!!)
New bearings all around and Ideola's last set of ARP rod bolts as well as, of course, new rings completed the inside. Heavily cleaned the oil pump and flat out replaced the water pump.
I can't wait to get the head back from the shop. She needed one new intake valve and guides and stem seals all around, but she should be in good shape.
I have all the fuel lines I need, and gulp, even rebuilt the fuel distributor, I have a spare should my Indian head Shelaq decide not to work =-)
Pulled everything out of the inside and am currently scraping out the old glue, primering and going through the wiring - tons of fun
More pics to come.

Yeah, decided to pull off all of the crumbling heat shield on the fire wall. The Gold heat shield was actually cheaper than the silver stuff but just as much heat resistance.......and I can pretend she has a commonality with a formula 1 car........ one can always dream _________________ Ian Edgerly

More pics as the engine comes along. Should have it in the car in a week or two, and then time to hook up all the CIS nonsense. Still have to set the cold valve clearances, and for all you eagle eyes out there, haven't timed it yet so there is quite a bit of slack in the timing belt. Still pondering whether or not to powder coat the cam timing pulley.....
Hope ya'll enjoy....=-)

Yeah, that's my OCD kicking in.
Bought the gold stuff from Pegasus Racing (no affiliation). I forgot how much I paid, but its easy to find on their website. _________________ Ian Edgerly

Well, got the engine in and started connecting everything back up. Can't really see it but there is a Bursch header down there.
Still waiting on my new coolant hoses to get here and then the only thing left is to purchase the fuel pressure accumulator........not looking to that chunk of change, I like stuff I can see.......damn important things that are hidden away.
cheers

Nice progress!
Question though:

Is your fuel filter installed the right way up?
Maybe your part is assembled differently (the old way like Haynes shows)…
Anyway, make sure the arrow is pointing upward to avoid odd CIS behaviour in the near future.

Harm -
Thanks for the QA check! It is on the right way, even if one ignored the arrow and the stamped word "out" on the top of the filter, I don't think the fittings would fit.
After looking at the post you attached I don't know if the 81's are different - but the filter came with the proper threaded portions on it - no need for the adapters

Are those yours?? If they are that is awesome. I had to have something as the factory manuals and haynes are missing good shots of the engine compartment in whole. I have deleted the carbon canister so I am having to look for different ways to reroute the vac tube system so that everything that needs vacuum assist gets it.
cheers. _________________ Ian Edgerly
