New project in the house.....like I needed to spend more money on 924 turbos!!
As it used to look 20yrs ago entered as a CGT using genuine GT mechanicals
How it looks after all the genuine CGT mechanicals were removed and returned to the donor CGT. Now after 16yrs in dry storage.....

After 2 wet practice runs in the morning followed by 2 timed runs. See the Youtube link and times to fast forward if you only want to see my car. Although I thoroughly recommend viewing the eclectic mix of cars competing
1st timed run - 51:01 - Got my eye in....
2nd timed run - 2:32.20 - Almost over cooked it again on the first left hander, Orchard, as I was trying to max out the under bridge speed after not wheel spinning off the line. Got 62mph which is pretty good in the dry let alone the wet........but making the corner afterwards in the wet was a bit

Wouldn’t be surprised, it’s an aggressive corner. Many cars lift a wheel and causes wheel spin on the exit. Mine certainly spins up in the dry let alone the wet. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Survived another season, OK three events, of hillclimbing. It was a wet event. Got out of shape a lot.

Debating now on whether this motor and ancillaries all gets pulled and installed in the CGT race car rep shell over Winter....... I have the original motor for this turbo but needs rebuilding, thankfully I have most of what I need to rebuild. But before then it might get mothballed as I can only spend on one car at a time, and I want the race car shell built to CGT/GTS spec in looks and performance. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Update on the race car. Didn't know whether to start a new thread or add the to the 'not wallet safe' thread. Given what's going on with my wallet, it can stay in this thread. Lots of time and money being spent on parts for the GT/GTS race car. Not yet started work on the shell yet, will start in the New Year.
Will probably fit the engine out of the red/white turbo in here next year, so will be circa 250rwhp......GTS CS performance. I'll build a new engine for the red/white car eventually. Will make a CS cross brace for the engine bay.
Have an LSD gearbox and refreshed drive train + hubs to go in here
Strong welded in cage installed
It will have a blend of GT + GTS body applied eg GTS rear spoiler and grille but not fixed headlights. It will sit on 9 x 16 Fuchs at the back and 8 x 16 Fuchs front. Big GTS stance.
Unfortunately I don't have the budget to refresh the paint, so it will stay Signal Yellow for the time being with some race battle scars......but then its race car, so needs a racey look

What a great (and lucky) find. I'm watching the progress with keen interest.
Best of luck with your new project. _________________ 80/81 932/8 ROW |
