As you all know, my 1983 944 944 has been down for some time now (politically correct terminology due to the fact that Mand WILL find this thread and WILL punish me for whining). Through a series of fortunate events I am now the proud owner of the 1984 944 you see below. I know, I know, this is a 924 board, but I just wanted to share!

One selfless gent, who shall remain Jordan Lewis of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, stumbled upon this car while burning donuts around the block in his 1986 944 (the story of how I got to know Jordan is a tale for another time). Being such a great guy, his first thought was of me and my 944-less situation. Long story short: I got the car for $1500 CDN! Drove down Thursday, changed the belts and tensioners Friday, and drove home Saturday. Yesterday the car was safetied and passed with flying colors.

Mand is VERY happy; in her words: "Now you'll stop whining and sniveling about not having a 944 to drive, and the pressure's off me to paint your bloody '83 before I'm good and ready (read: satisfied my OCD)."

Her name's Liesl. She's much more a lady than Maximilian, my '83.

Same color as my old 924, which I sold about a month ago. Yes, I see the rust but I'm forbidden to do any body work on my own cars... Mandy says I'm too "rammy".

Jordan poses with his '86 944. Note beam of light shining on engine bay. That's Liesl in the garage with her bra still on. Poor girl wore it for 10 years, so there are some strap marks.

Jordan gets a firm grip on his pipe...

Jordan also gets the McGyver award for this power steering setup.

I've swapped in a good J-boot, changed the TB O-ring, replaced the vac elbows, sanded some switch contacts, done the shudder fix and some other kissing and cuddling. Water pump gets done at first belt retensioning.

Cheers!

Thanks, guys.

Brockoli - machine shop, eh? Big-valve head in your future? I actually don't care for the big Porsche illuminated billboard on the back of the car but I'm kinda scared of what I might find underneath it so for now it stays. The neat thing about this car is that it's so much what I wanted right out of the box. It's got cruise control, which is nice considering how many highway miles I drive, it's got 2-tone black/beige interior, which i like very much, and it's got the rare factory steering wheel spacer, which makes it hard to eat chicken kebabs while driving with my knees but helps 'cause I'm so tall. I even think the cookies suit the car.

That's Hot!

Love it Simon. The cookies do suit it, reminds me of Khal's 931 a bit. What a great find in a great colour.

Brockoli, I've warned you, stop wasting time on the internet and get to work on your engine!

slam - I must be the only one who likes it. The spacer must be nice, I know what its like to be a tall guy in these cars. I dig the cutters, nice change from the fuchs I see so often.

Chrenan - o no you caught me again. Im done back to school clothes shopping so I can start on the rebuild soon. The machining is turning out to be a bit more than I expected. I will stop hijacking and I will explain when I get it back and take pics.

No, Brock, my wife likes them too.

So, the Yellowjacket-building, 951 thrashing lurker stops by. Hi, Chrenan! Your old 924 is happily tucked up for the winter, waiting for a master cylinder rebuild kit. The car had a good summer - Mason and I played "Would You Rather" in it for 2 hours on one road trip. He'd rather kiss his teacher than stand in front of the class naked...

Good to hear its still roaming the roads!

I figure with 944 content and my name mentioned I should come out of lurking on this one.

I'd also rather kiss my teacher than stand in front of the class naked, good choice.

In some parts of the world a peck in cheek is all good.
Standing in front of the class naked causes brain damage.
