I've just re-read the thread, and there is a mis-calculation in that article. At 90.5mm of stroke, that only yields 2127 or 2.1L, not 2.3 as purported.

I forgot to change the piston bore to 88.5mm. With 90.5 stroke and 88.5mm cylinder bore, the displacement is in fact 2227cc (still not 2.3L!)

I left out the photo with the license plate...happy to post it with your permission, but some people are funny about posting plates online (which I personally think is ridiculous, since your plate is publicly visible all the time anyway!)

BTW, beautiful car, really worth the effort to save. Lovely interior, with sport seats, and a late 82 model as evidenced by the 944-style HVAC controls.

Thanks for the posting and the comments!

Did I send one of the door panel?
I was wondering if most had the Porsche name on them like mine or not.
Do the later ones like in the 968?

You can skip the plate one, but if you look it expires in 1987, lol

I have thought about swapping out the dash for a newer style 944/968 as I saw someone did it in 2007.

I never plan to sell the car and think the newer style dash is a bit cleaner.
And would also prefer electric sport seats too if I can find them in the same style.

But first the engine.
Probably just going to go the 944T route. Faster and I want to drive it all over the country. A custom stroked 931 sounds like fun but if I break down somewhere I want to be able to get parts.

Script door panels were fairly common in the later model years, most 1982 models I've seen seem to have them. I'm not sure when they became an option.


Hard to tell much from these photos of the rods without seeing them side by side with OEM units.



If you decide the stroker is not for you, I would definitely be interested in acquiring the package. Let me know!

more pics are on the way!

I will see if I can dig out a stock rod/piston to compare it to.

But thats the first time the piston and rods have been unwrapped in 30 years.
