I need an old junk 924 Turbo clutch+pressure plate+TO bearing. I am trying to put a 944 transmission in a 78 924 and need to see if I can use these parts.

Jeff:
Do you have a 944 or 931 driveshaft? That is the first place you must look for fit as the 944 trans needs the larger driveshaft and coupler. So working from back to front you then need to ensure the new driveshaft works in the pilot bearing. If that works then:

I have looked at part of this before. I would use the existing pressure plate etc but use a 931 driven disc which had been cut down in diameter some to fit under your standard 924 pressure plate.

The best thing to do is retro-fit the 944 torque tube and clutch assembly. I'm not sure how much work there is to this, because I don't mess with 924NA very much.

The 924 torque probably won't hold up to the extra torque the 944 engine puts out. You can make a coupler that will work on the shaft sizes on the transaxle end. You can do a 944 tube with a 924 4 speed for example. I've seen it done.

Depending on where you live I can probably find you the clutch assembly with hydralics and torque tube.

Good luck Bob
