there was an article in Excellence comparing the 937GTS vs. the 944. The GTS had a simplified center console that I would expext to see in a club sport. Check it out!!!

Brock, nice idea, I like it! I've often lusted for a true GTx style dash but I've never seen a center console like the one in that photo shoot. Now I'm going to have to go back and look at all my pix again. The one in that article looks like a butchered normal unit made to accommodate heater controls. I can't figure out how it's held into place, those side panels being as flimsy as they are! Still, gives me some ideas... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Here's a question: what do you guys think of doing a fixed headlight conversion? It would save weight and would be period appropriate, but is it "in the spirit" of the club sport? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I'd think it would be appropriate, however, as a rule I generally don't like them as they spoil the lines of the car IMHO.
OK not as much as the headlamps in the up position but I'd still want to keep the pop-ups
As for the console that looks like it's just chopped off.
How aobut you get 2 of the upper gauge sections and flip one over to tidy up the lower edges of the heater controls? Would need cearful chopping but might look good and a bit more thought out than that hacked off one. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

I, too, never cared for the headlight conversion as I've always felt the rectangular housing sat way to far back. I've always felt you could get a projector light, place it farther forward to where it would be more useful and even cause for a slight bubble in the clear lens - but that is straying from your CS concept. I'd say the conversion is too closely associated with the Carrera GTR.
I think a 968 spoiler would give it the Club Sport "feel". But, like the Carerra GTR headlights, might be too closely related to a different model/version.
The CS did have two tiny NACA type hood scoops you could do.
On the inside, I know the 968 CS had thinner carpeting and the heater controls were deleted - unless the "comfort" option was selected when bought. Might be an application for the Lotek Dual Gauge Pod (delete the center console all together). _________________ 924.org (no time to complete)

IIRC, the 924GTS was the only model available in true CS guise? The 924S LeMans or SE wasn't technically designated as a "clubsport"?
I think the 968CS was more of a marketing exercise anyway...where's the built in roll-cage ect...
There was also a UK CS version called the Sport. Total bullshit and a million miles away from the ethic of the 924GTS clubsport
Of course GTS headlights are a must |

Well, that's sort of like saying the 911 RS wasn't a "club sport", in the spirit of the concept, if not in actual name...
So you're right, the SE wasn't dubbed a club sport, but it has CS-esque features. For my purposes, I'm kind of borrowing ideas from all of the "sport" designated models, which seem to follow a general theme...deletion of unnecessary amenities, and addition of sport-oriented performance modifications. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Yeah but I think the 911RS like the 924GTS had thinner gauge steel panels and glass...unlike the 968CS.
I think the term "lightweight" says it all no? |

Definitely a significant aspect of the design aesthetic...utilitarian and purposeful also come to mind...no frills...etc. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Yessir! 968 brakes-rotors-hubs at all four corners (even included brand new rotors and pads!), and in a separate acquisition, 968 CS front and rear sways. I have a set of Koni adjustable struts for the front with matching adjustable coil overs, just need to find something suitable for the rears, and she'll be ready to rock-n-roll! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
