What do you guys think? I see the GT conversion a lot but I think with a little fiberglass and bondo, you could make a aggressive camaro look. Has anyone tried doing this? |

the camaro lights were like two scoops on the front of the car. Aggressive looking, yeah. but it made the car less fast.
GT lights would work better. or you could figure something else out.... like custom lights in the bumpers, and blend the old light pieces into the nose panel (is that even legal?) _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

That's a bit harsh
I've also been thinking about re-doing the lights on my 924 for a while. Although I'm not taking any design cues from mullet-mobiles _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

Lol, yeah I may have been a bit harsh.
But for God Sakes! Camaro style headlights on a 924? Wait... come to think of it, they are very similar in ways to the GT lights. If you fabbed up some nice sheet metal buckets, welded those in and left the clear light covers off that'd be pretty darn close. Even still... he has a lot of other more important work to keep him busy.
I still think buying a nice 80s Z28 would be a much better choice. Darn cool cars too.
I love the early third gen styling.

where I'm at, I mostly come across these as lawn ornaments, perpetually on jackstands/cinderblocks/plain ol' logs with a big confederate flag sticker covering the rear hatch, or in gas station parking lots with 10-year-old for sale signs (5000/obo, 185k mi, 6cyl auto) I guess I'm just biased
But to bring the thread back on track, it wouldn't look right unless you change the slope of the nose. problem is, then it'd look like the ugly half-brother of an IROC Z. _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

There's not room for two lights. You might as well just go with a lensless CGT conversion kit if that's the look you want. _________________ ideola's garage

I was thinking instead of that, just give it some 'eyebrows' that extend the length of the hood a bit over the light wells. Then set the lights a little further forward.
I know what you mean about the Camaros. I looked in my local classified and half of them don't have their engine anymore. Of course everyone wants to put their Camaro engine in everything but a Camaro. LOL |

you're saying you want to put a front clip on the car. That can probably be done with relative ease, and I've seen it done on many other vehicles with varying degrees of success.... _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

This is harsh.. Just put a truck front end on it..( a chevy mini)
front clip.
Cirno means well & is looking for a streamlined effect thats all good though a homeade gt light conversion would be better .. or a truck
porschev has done a great homeade headlight how to conversion on his car. _________________ 2003 Toyota Tacoma deluxe cab/ TRD package.

Really I just want to get the lights on my car to work in the simplest and cheapest way possible. Once I have fixed lights, if there is any electrical gremlins between the light switch and the lights I can just bypass it with a separate closed circuit. Fused, of course. The plastic cover forming looks like something I would screw up so I don't want to try it.
I use to try and mess with Lexan and plexiglass when I was doing computer case mods and I HATE the stuff. Brittle, melts, cracks, hates glue, ect ect. |

Honsetly it'd be easier to work out the gremlins and keep it stock. or get creative and make draw some stuff up, and then go crazy with fiberglass and molds! _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |
