I am trying to reassembled a master cylinder and cannot get the cylinder to compress so I can install the retaining ring. I have used a bar clamp to compress to hollow rod that sticks out of the body, tried tapping down on the steel dust cover washer to push the two rubber seals down past the retainer ring grove and have had little success. Any suggestions? |

Is the screw that retains the intermediate piston getting in the way? _________________ 78 924 NA

Interesting. I was not sure when to put the retaining screw in and did so after i inserted the first spring and "piston". I could compress the second "piston and figure the retaining screw was behind it. Kyle took it to a local shop and they said we did it wrong, but did not offer up any suggestions on how we did it wrong.
I think i inserted the first spring, then the first piston, then the screw, an then the outer spring and piston followed by the two seals and plastic washer. |
