Its been 60 degrees and rainy here off & on all week
& most of last week the same. Though today after spending
time installing the mirrors in a downpour it sunshined on
me enough to get some good pics.

So we can expect your car to look like this for the next six months

So how much would you charge to paint my car (since you can't stop)?

Looking good.

...for now, until you need a new fix, right? I'm also guessing that'll be within a year.

We're like polar opposite as far as car painting motivation is concerned. I need enough time to pass to forget what a complete pain in the A it was last time before I'll do it again. -And the last time was a paint job for my Jeep - the OJ verdict was on the news then...so apparently my memory's improving and I may never get it done.

Do you do that out on the driveway? -or in the garage? No problem with the town? (I hear they're becoming less than thrilled to see it done at home around here.)

Its a big job yes Smoothie & if you mess up its double.
Noo no Im gonna keep this paint scheme.. I like it that much
the line between the blue and the yellow turned out good enough.
I spent close to 300.00 bucks in paint nason base coat
clear coat. I did it in the driveway and partially in the
garage..took off the hood and did that in the garage
along with the sun roof & mirrors. The paint store didnt
seem to think I was breaking any city codes I asked as I was
worried about the neighbors thoughts on the subject. Boy smoothie
I had todrill out the head of the passenger side mirrors allen
bolt cuase it stripped out that had me worried. I had to use
a over sized headed bolt with a custom sized washer to get
it on as the hole was to big to hold the original. Colors are loud.
car runs good its a fun time indeed for me.

Your car looks great, I love the bright colors and the line you chose to divide the colors, of course I'm into those bold, eye catching, no one else has paint styles. I've been putting a lot of thought into what I want to do with the paint scheme for mine when I'm ready to paint that. Good job, it looks darn nice and especially considering it's a drive way job. Did you wet sand between the base coat and clear coat and again after the clear coat and then buff the car? Did you end up with any unwanted air bourne passengers in the paint doing it in the driveway?

hahha ha yea like about 6 of them little winged bugs that become passengers
forever entombed, I was able to remove most of them theres probly
3 stuck in the clear..no I didnt sand after the base coat though I did in between clear coats havnet buffed it yet .. you got to get a windless day
or you can be spraying trying hard to get the paint on itll run on you becuase the wind changes...my buddy has a big shop we were gonna do it in there last year though he started a brake job on a very early chevy 1956 400
series 1 1/2 ton truck and still hasnt finished...

The weather has gotten really really nice so I think thursday
Ill lightly sand the panels behind the rear wheels & reclear them. Just got to mask up the car. or I could just buff it I dont know. Ill show pics of whatever I do. I know wet sand with 1000 grit
for awhile then reclear the side rear panels seems
I missed something... playin with the wind so to speak
causeing over spray and a rough surface.. just use the thought process
and fix this is the last time I paint outside cuase it just not fair.
Theres to much work involved to get good results.

Painting a car?

First rule is work clean. There is so much to tell it is beyond this forum.
Second make sure the body work is perfect. Any wrinkle or unsmoothed body filler will make you cry.
Third do not touch the car between the primer and the paint. Oil on your hands will make fish eyes.
do not have rags lying about. The fumes will cause the same problem.
Bugs leave them on and sand out later. You will multiple coat the car anyway.
Let the car dry for a couple of days prior to sanding. I went to 2000 grit at the end.

Yes, I painted my cars in a NY driveway. Yes, it is against the law. Yes, the neighbors complained but not to me. Both came out fine.

Paint the entire car the same day using the same paint, reducer etc. If not the car will come in different shades. We have painted cars in the driveway for the past 8 years and what I said above is a warning. Ask me how I know.

Yea Vince well you know I did the driveway thing though this last time it was in the garage in the winter with a propane tank for heat it all worked fine had heat Id warm everthing up real good and then shut the heat down paint then
with the grage door open about halfway with a summer time fan on to aide in exhausting the fumes. Worked fine way better than the driveway.
I really like the inside idea alot.
