Back by popular demand...a second opportunity for ARP rod bolts. Apparently, EBS is out of stock now, and ARP did not do a run besides what we ordered the first time. So, we will need to do another run. I confirmed pricing will be the same as quoted last time, so it will be dependent upon the number of participants how low we can drive the price.

SPECIFICATIONS
Here are the specs:
  • M10x1.0 Porsche Rod Bolt
  • As per sample
  • ARP2000 material, 220 ksi
  • Lead time: 8 weeks (from approval of order)
PRICING
  • 80 pieces (10 sets) or more: $209.84 per set ($26.23 per piece)
  • 40 pieces (5 sets) minimum: $324.88 per set ($40.61 per piece)

Note: This does not include shipping, and ARP will NOT drop ship, so I'll have to have them shipped to me, and then ship them outbound from there. Sorry, I tried to get them to drop ship to lower the overall cost, but they don't want to hassle with it

HEAD STUDS
Now, regarding head studs, unfortunately, there is no price break I can get. The jobber cost available to me is significantly higher than what many online resellers advertise their retail price. This is because they order in excess of $15K of materials from ARP. Obviously, I'm (we're) no where near that threshold. So for now, the best option on head studs is to purchase them from Summit, or if you're lucky, from a few eBay retailers who offer them for even less than Summit.

So, please post your interest for ROD BOLTS only.

There is a minimum 8 week lead time from the point that the rod bolts are actually ordered. I have no problem hanging on to your other stuff until then, but just be aware, the rod bolts probably won't be shipped until February.

Time to start a list:
  • !tom: confirmed for 1 set
  • Fifty50Plus: confirmed for 1 set
  • Elektrobank: confirmed for 1 set
  • Grenadiers: confirmed for 1 set
  • Chris Marsh: confirmed for 1 set
  • moone924: confirmed for 1 set
TOTALS: 6 confirmed || 6 total

Depending on timing, I'll commit to 1 or 2 sets if that's what it takes to get us to 10 sets.

Gianluca, I'll look into shipping...can't imagine it being too terribly bad via Fedex since these will fit into a really small package.

Count me for one set, at the 10 set price listed. If we don't make it, I'll have to reconsider. Euro car is getting 'spensive!

Duly noted, Dave. I think we can make it to 10 sets, may just take a week or so to get the word out.

My sentiments exactly! It was so much cheaper when we couldn't get parts.

Might as well ship all my stuff together too. This is part of a father and son project, and my son has a ways to go before he hits 1 yet.

I need a few days to think about this one
It's more than double the price of stock bolts... and arp's website doens't try to convince me that it's two times better than stock Also, this means my engine can't be assembled before the bolts are in.
Last thing doesn't really matter though... haven't got enough money anyway to get the whole project done before february.

Please try to convince me to take ARP
I'll confirm my choice within a week.

Easy. There is no other alternative. I don't know what price you're referring to for stock bolts, because stock bolts are NLA, and nobody I'm aware of carries replacement rod bolts. This is your only source for getting them.

As for being better, these rod bolts were specifically spec'd out using the ARP2000 material due to the fact that many guys on the first round wanted them for higher-than-stock output levels. Based on specs and ARPs reputation and history, I have no qualms saying these are better than stock...especially used ones

Did it work???

I'm not so sure anymore about the availability of the stock ones now
About the higher-than-stock output levels... as far as I can see, the same bolts are used in the 931, and probably also in the cgt, so 200hp (which is my target) should be handled by the stock ones.

Ok I'm convinced. I'll use my current bolts to fit my bearings and work my crankshaft (yeah baby, work it). After that's done, I'll wait for the ARP ones.
But, on one condition. I want nuts with em... I'm sure those are included

So put me down for a set

Also, I'm interested in flywheel bolts. Any idea if those are available stock, or should I just find 10.9 rated replacements for a universal application? Or ARP?
