I've always reused mine with no issues. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Dan,
even with the new style tensioner bearing? bolt won't be too long?
regards,

Hrrm. Not sure what you had on your car before. I only know of two types: my NA had one type, and all four of my 931 motors had the other, although looking at PET, it does appear to be a part split between the 79 and 80 model years, rather than being model specific. IIRC, the bolts are in fact different sizes, but I don't know which is which. And unfortunately, I don't see the bolt itself listed in PET. Wish I could be more helpful! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

You may need to change the bolt. I did when I changed tensioner styles on my 924 NA.

Yes, if you're changing from the original style tensioner that was adjusted with a large wrench via the hex-shaped piece on front - to the new thinner cross-sectioned tensioner with the 2 small holes that take an adjuster tool.. Then yes, the old bolt should be too long. Correct fastening for the new one is a stud and nut. (Though a shorter bolt should do, the stud-nut are easier to work with.)
Remember to tension by turning the assembly counter-clockwise rather than clockwise. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."
