PostPosted: Tue Dec 01, 2009 1:35 am    Post subject: Electric mirrors wiring scheme help Reply with quote

Hi everybody,

I just bought some electric mirrors to install on my 924, I bought it on the internet and the guy just cut the wires and send it. I would like to know if anyone could help me with the conections, one mirror have 6 wires and the other 5 wires, the positioner has 6 wires and the selector 3 wires. I think that maybe was tooked from a 944...

if anyone could help me I would be really thankful, because doing the reverse engineer of that could be painful.

regards from Portugal

Going to be interesting. Yuo need a wiring diagram (Pelican parts or Haynes) and loads of splices. It's mightily confusing... I know as I've just done it...

If you want, you can look for the harness from a 79. It is a separate harness. (same with power windows) I could also scan the mirror diagram and post it for you.

Hello everybody,
first of all sorry for the late reply, but I had some problems with internet, unfortunately its being usual since I have changed operator...

Thank you very much for your help. At this time I have only the left driverīs mirror with me, the joystick and the selector, so I couldnīt try to put booth mirrors working, but I have put this one working ok after one all afternoon. My head almost explode lol

Now there is other problem, because this scheme I made only work with one, when I get booth together the scheme it will be complete diferent, because in all schemes I saw one mirror depends on the other...

Other thing, I see that in many schemes appear a kind the mirror resistor, the clutch and the motor, in this mirrors it as only the resistor and two motors.

The mirrors are from the 944 just donīt know the year, the wire colors are:
1-White
2 and 3 -White Brown - two wires but they are conected on the plug
4-Black/Brown
5-Brown
6-Brown/Yellow

1 and 2- are for left right movement
3 - up down movement
5 and 6 - resistor

The joystick as 6 connectors, and the selector 3

one more time thank you very much for your help,

if with more of this information you could help me a litle more I would be thankful,
best regards

Boy this sounds complicated..im hoping to gleam
something from this post as i soon plan to pull my
unconnected mirrors off and set on the bench with
a 2 way ( for left and right) and a 4 way for
( up,dwn, lft. rght.) switch and a power source that
seems like the best way..
Someone needs to pull ther door cards and spill the
beans on the wires.

Iīm doing just like that, working on the bench with a power source I have took from a old pc (12V 8A). I already have done something similar with my old Renault super 5 central lock and power windows (this was only to test button because this require more current), but this is more tricky, so any help will be good

Iīm doing this to help a friend that is recovering a 924, Iīm helping him with the electric part of the car.

Well, maybe this will help some.....

924 944
1 blue 1 white
2 black 2 white/brown
3 green/gray 3 black
4 brown 4 black/brown
5 brown 5 brown
6 white 6 brown/yellow

Here is the 924 diagram again. Hopefully it comes out bigger and readable this time.

Well the spaces between 924 and 944 didn't come out.

The 944 code doesn't exactly match yours. I looked at the early 944 and the late 944. The late 944 has up to 88 and older with 5 brown and 6 brown/yellow and the 88 and newer 5 as brown/yellow and 6 brown.

If you look at the 924 diagram, Z is the mirror heater, N is the mirror clutch (left right) and V is the mirror motor (up down)

The late 85.5 944 is wired completely differently through the change over switch and the mirror adjustment switch. My early 944 mirrors were the same as the 924.

v8carreragts, thank you very much that will help for sure. what is giving more trouble its that I donīt have the plug of the mirror switch, I had to put there terminals and wire it by my self because it only came the swicth, if anyone could send me a photo of the mirror switch connectors to see where which wire is plug on the switch, in that way I could do the exact match.

thank you very much to all you are great !
