I've seen so many attempts at a VR6 swap into a 924 but have not seen one actually completed. This is a build that has been going for some time now but I didn't want to post anything till we were making headway.
Here is what we started with.
Some of my handy work back when we thought the motor would be salvageable.
Final Compression test and still nothing.
Now What?

The Vr6 sits farther forward than the 2.5. It actually works out to our advantage since the splines on the shafts are different. I'm going to extend the Torque tube and driveshaft to meet the motor as well as adapt the splines to match.
Here is what I like to call the "Frankenshaft" Porsche Clutch, Vr6 input shaft.
The hub from the Porsche Clutch
Cut the Input shaft and faced it down, then I bored out the center to fit on the "nipple" of the stock Porsche Shaft.
I still have to machine the coupler between these then weld it all up.

Nice work! A couple of questions:
What is the weight of the VR6? How does it compare to the 2.5L it is replacing?
How much more forward does the VR6 sit?
Keep us posted on your progress.

The VR6 is longer than the 2.5, In this case the VR6 is centered over the front subframe, and the front is 4" from the hoodlatch.
The Vr6 longblock is about 325lbs.
I am fully aware that I am changing the weight bias, but am going to setup the suspension after completion to make a good handling car again. Also we tried to get the motor as low as possible to help as well. _________________ -Gus Ford

if i did a motor swap outside the 944/951/968 family it would probably be a vr6 or audi i5

no pictures, but today I spun the front crank pulley and turned the rear wheels...What a feeling! Next up is extending the torque tube, and fabbing mounts. Its getting closer. _________________ -Gus Ford

It looks like you have put a spacer in between the chassis and cross member - wont that alter your suspension mounting point for the lower arm. That together with the weight further forward like that will cause some very interesting handling!! _________________ Andrew

Yea, essentially we put a body lift on the car. It lowered our inboard A-arm mount on the car about 1.25" Ride height is the same, but its going to change the geometry a tad. If I get time I'll put it into Lotus Suspension Software and see what I can tweak to improve the ride. _________________ -Gus Ford
