I notice on the 82 931, the separator is updated as compared to 1980 models. At the bottom it has a v-shape to help the oil find it's route better. Did this change occur in 81, or 82? The 80 purolator separator was just flat at the bottom. |

The 81 has the updated separator. It also includes a larger bore return fitting. |

And, when did they go to the plastic seperator? My early '80 has the old aluminum can. |

Does anyone know where to find a new one cheap? (81-up is plastic) Cuz autoatlanta wants $80 for one. Can NAPA or Pep-boys order from the purlator PN for less?

some of the 80s were plastic too, probably depends on your serial number or what leftover parts porsche had laying around. |

They must have changed shotly after the start of the '80 model year. I worked on one built 9/79 which had the aluminum seperator. Mine, built 11/79, is plastic. Another odd thing about the early models is the aluminum turbo mounting bracket. The bool only shows one part number.
