I drive a small truck for work. Not mine but the bosses. It all shut down on the freeway the other day no power to anything that was connected to the acc or on terminals. I solved the problem with a temp band aid fix. Meaning that I found a wire that had 12v and jumpped it into the fuse marked for the cig lighter and that restored power to allow me to move it off the freeway and to a safe location close by. It is booked in at the auto elec on Thursday for him to have a look at and get it working, but my problem lies in the fact that untill that time I have 6 guys on casual wages with no work unless I can get the truck going again before then. I had a quick look at it tonight and I found that when jumpped everything besides the cooling fan works, the cooling fan itself works when wired directly and the indicators on the same fuse work also. The cooling fan has a relay in the wireing and that works when given a voltage. When not jumpped the truck has no power when the cooling fan is running wired directly. I tried chasing wires and discovered that up untill where the wires leave the cabin nothing has a voltage. My other problem is that a wireing diagram is totally useless because of a: previous work changing wires and colors of wires and b: because it is a mitsubishi diesel truck running a GM petrol motor??
Any ideas of where to look or a strategy for diagnosing, my electrics skills are always challenged with anything more than minor work, it just appears to me that it must be a minor problem if I could only find it then the guys could work this week. _________________ 1977 924 2.0 Auto |

Many vehicles have a master fuse, or "fusible link". -Generally near the battery, or in the engine compartment, but might be near the fuse box too. Try a Yahoo search on "fusible link" including the model, year, manufacturer, etc. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."
