Don`t we all enjoy a good head job?

Details?
Such as stem diameter, guides, chamber volume & width, ........... ?
Was the ex seat replaced? Any idea of seat bore size?

Would be nice to see pics of it unassembled.

Any thoughts on cam break in? What did they set your valve clearances to?

Why no coating on the entire combustion area?

I sent it to European Motoworks (I grew too impatient with trying to find a local resource I felt comfortable with...had the funds, decided to just bite the bullet and send it to Jorge). After discussing with Jorge, it seems he has a ready supply of the "big valve kit", either on the shelf or pretty much available at a moments notice. This "kit" includes the stainless valves, seats, guides, retainers, and keepers. The valve stem diameter is 8mm. Since we now know there is little difference between the 931 and NA head in terms of the ports, I suspect that the chamber volume will be very similar to what was reported on the "big valve head" years ago.

Yes, both seats are brand new. I don't know the bore size, but I can ask.

Agreed. The per piece prices aren't too outrageous, I am still contemplating buying a single set of everything from Jorge for further research. If this comes about, I'll post pix.

I sent Jorge the instructions I got from Steve at Integral, so clearances are currently at the cold lash listed on the instruction sheet. I'll cross the cam break in bridge when I get to it, which probably won't be until next spring.

Dunno. Maybe because they didn't have a sample piston to work with? Jorge sent it out to have the coating done, and this is how it came back. I didn't see it until it arrived, so no opportunity to query on that. I'm not going to worry about it.

Head was nicely double wrapped in thick mylar, so no worries there.

I should also mention, I sent Jorge a set of the Performance Springs that Roger helped us source. I asked Jorge to review their specs compared to what he had access to, as well as the lift specs provided by Integral. I told him that money wasn't an issue, and to use whatever he felt was best based on the available information.

He installed the Performance Springs that I provided. FWIW.

{EDIT}
Oh yeah, almost forgot, here are some in-progress pix that Jorge sent to me earlier, which show the valve seats prior to final assembly. The photos are blurry (sorry, I didn't snap these!), but maybe they'll be interesting to look at?

It is the combustion chamber volume that I inquired about seeing that some material has been machined from the wall adjacent to the intake valve. Only looks like a few cc at most but clearly must be included in your CR calculations. Knowing that the stock chamber width is very close to std bore size, wonder what the maximum width is now. Sure that you are using O/S pistons Dan so should be fine. If you get a chance, see what the largest reading you can get with internal calipers.

From experience, the cold lash set up clearance given by Integral is spot on. They know what they`re doing. IIRC was 0.011" and it does indeed grow to the required 0.015" when hot. Would follow the instructions regarding run in RPM etc but pour a can of ZDDP additive over the assembly, rather than the traditional moly lube.

After the equivalent of a few hundred miles engine break in the lifter shims may likely need replacement or some surface grinding to maintain desired clearance. More of a PITA than the basic screw adjustment but no drama at all, and half as easy as a 4 valve.

Feel confident basing the spring pressures on Integrals figures. They spin their prototype cams in a spintron at all RPM, past red line, and run computer diagnostics on the valve train to verify their profiles and data. Porsche would not have had this technology over 30 years ago and AFAIK have not released any official valve spring specs. There`s no denying that the OE cam and valvetrain is far from an ideal design.

When you consider what you're getting and comparing it to present day costs for a head for any high performance car, that's a pretty good deal with the coatings and the big valve job.

Good choice Dan.

Why don't you just try to think sometimes before you post and when you have to do that, just don't post, ok?

I have my experience that I'm willing to share. Obviously no one has to agree with what I've found out and said but what gives you the right to make a mockery of everything I've said?

From now, this is my last post on this board unless a$$hole named Rasta Monsta will get some manners that he didn't got from his parents.

Just teasin' ya, man. And if you search back, I don't think you'll find me calling you names. . .

Raceboy, it's just stinky cheese man, stinky cheese. Rasta's frequently lame attempts at humor are difficult to comprehend, even for many of us that share his culture...can't imagine how it must come across when the humor doesn't transcend cultural barriers.
