Good news:

They fit.

Bad news:

Not quite.
Although these are headers, don`t think the stock manifolds are any smaller. This shows the front riveted piece, the rear one also interferes. Suggest checking that your manifold does not hang any lower than the head face, and fixing it BEFORE you install it.

Also on the intake side the front rivet also fouls. Ground a mm or 2 off the manifold in this spot. If your head has not been machined much you may not have any issues.

Good news is:

They Work!

yea..........

Realized that after the head was torqued down so knocked the tabs down with a bit of flat bar and hammer. Not ideal.

Discussed this with Peterld earlier and they do interfere on a stock 931 manifold. The tabs and rivets hold the layers together and more importantly in alignment. Should be able to get away with carefully cutting off the 2 on exhaust side. Easy on an engine stand but a PITA to do in the car.

We need some feedback from Cometic on this. I am very surprised this was never considered during development.

I don't get it. I'm looking at a stock head gasket 931 104 337 06 and there are no tabs with rivets.

Why would the company include those tabs?

It is a multi-layer steel gasket. So it is made up of multiple layers of steel which are riveted together to provide alignment of the layers.

I've test fitted my engine together, but I didn't notice this issue with my header. The header interfered with the starter heat shield. I'll go out to the garage and take a peak to see if perhaps I missed it.

Gotcha. Thanks. So if you cut one of these tabs off the alignment of the layers can go 'off'.

If I'm guessing right, those MLS gaskets are disposable. And tabs with rivets are only to hold the layers together till your gasket is tighten up. Once it is in place, you can cut the tabs and it will not affect the sealing or anythyng else.
Although it's an issue that must be solved, it's not a big mess.

I'll contact Cometic tomorrow and ask for a recommendation. And for the record, the gaskets are NOT reusable, according to my source at Cometic.

So we can freely cut those tabs once the gasket is tighten up.

I've never heard of a reusable head gasket myself before -- why would you expect this high performance one to be different?

Guys, its no big deal. Once the head is torqued down, it is a simple matter to bend the rivet ear out of the way. At worst it could be cut off as the head gasket is in place and secured.
