Thought you all might enjoy looking at these pics from the complete rebuild I did on the 924 GTR.
The on track pics are from the December 08 HSR race at Sebring, and the final pics are as the car is now.
If anyone is in Sebring December 5-8, drop by the Kelly Moss transporter and say hello. This will be the first race all season with everything "right" (hopefully)

Are we allowed to ask questions?
If so, any driving impressions?
Can you tell us about the engine? Is it the original rebuilt? Looks a bit like an S2 or 968 head? If I remember right the original GTR had a development version of the 2.5 turbo running through 16 valves? _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

924 GTR's which this was, had turbocharged 2L 2 valves.
944 GTR's had turbocharged 2.5L 2 valves.
There was a 16V 2.5L version that ran at Lemans in the early 80's.
The car currently has a normally aspirated 4V 3.0L 944S2 motor in it, with Motec FI.
Driving impressions? Ran it last year with lots of issues and a Carbed motor that had about 6 years on it.
This year so far have not had any luck, we had lots of gremlins.
It's way fast, weighs 1980 without driver, corners on rails and stops on a dime.
Ask me again after the HSR race, cause it's finally all together.

I love cars like this, they are like the highest level of art. I mean sure, they have the general profile of a 924, but that thing is all tubes and the best pieces of race kit available, pure sex! Love it! I keep looking at the pictures, there are so many little details that are amazing. Thanks for making these pictures available, they really are great to see. Good luck on the track and get some in-car video for us... _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Guys,
the only way this car got rebuilt was because heimrath built it to race it in Trans Am in 82.
Duplicating it today would probably cost 300K all in.
You can get damned fast well handling cars out of stripped out and properly caged 944T's for way less money.
On one hand I'm an idiot for selling my cup car and getting a car that needs lots of constant attention. on the other hand, it makes me wet myself
The 2L was gone well before I bought it. it's had a 944 series motor in it since the late 90's.
If you are serious about a good race built 2L non turbo charged motor, you need to talk to Mike Mount out east. He built this motor, and he built a bunch of na 2.0's that rock. The one in my DP car, Joe Hish's Dp motor, and a couple of others. Mike may also be able to do a T version.
All you guys doing you own work, and doing things one piece at a time are the people who really deserve the accolades for their cars. |

You can't have a great car and be a class act, you have to pick one or the other. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |
