Hi All
Thinking of routes for my 924 2ltr na and was thinking of doing a few track days next year.
Just wondered if anyone else is using a similar car for this activity if so could you please share some pics and specs of what you have done.
I have also been looking into glass fibre front wings and bonnet as they are around £85 a wing and £140ish for the bonnet, just wondered if anyone else is using these items?
Also what weight saving tips do people have on this car?
Cheers
Ben |

I´ve done plenty of trackdays and hundreds of track kilometers with my car. R-compound tires 195/50 15 on peugeot steel rims. Used to have bridgestone 540s but now hankook z211 (feels a tiny bit slower). about -3 degrees of camber up front and about -1.5 at the rear. Brakes are paragon braided brake lines with carbotech xp8 up front, std at the rear. I used to have haek hp plus, much cheaper, both work fine, xp8 a tiny bit better. I restored the calipers with new rubber and greas them up from time to time. With this setup i can drive hours at the track with no tire fade or brake fade. And outrun most of the porsches at the PCS meetings without track day rubber. And it feels really well balanced at the limit. But shure, ligther would be nicer, but my no1 mod on this car would be stiffer suspension and changed 30 year old bushings. But my 931 gets all that instead _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

so you recomend 1955015 for track days? how bout road use too?
do you still have standard drums on the rear?
the car does feel balanced on spirited road driving so should be great on track just wondered if the standard power is good enough.
Any changing of gear box oil for this or standard road oil? |

The car takes second place when your on the track, my point is just get a car on the track and with in 20mins you will be back posting advice, so rules of engagement get a car pay track money and batter the arse off it you will know what you need next time around _________________ Dan

205´s would probably be better but are way mpre expensive. The 211´s work way better on the street, but i think they are discontinued. The best is to have seperate track tires. But one of the most important factor is whats between the steering wheel and the seat. Try to get as much driving as possible, use any instructors if they are available. Learning how to get most of the car is probably the best way to cut lap times. I changed to red line MTL, it made shifting a bit easier. But i have the snailshell box.
Power wont be a problem, its best to learn how to drive in a less powerful car, you will have to learn how not to scrub of speed and how to get maximum speed out of the corners. Drums are standard, BUT, there are different sorts. The first ones i bought cracked badly and could have ended really bad with a lost wheel. The other ones i bought after that had a reinforced area around the hole for the stub axle.. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo
