My son and I are rebuilding a 1978 924 motor and discovered the bolts for the connecting rod caps are no longer available. is there a substitute available or where can these be obtained?

The only available replacements are from ARP, and only when we do group buys. You just missed the last group buy, and I have sold all of the extra sets I ordered.

ARP do not stock them, nor do any of the usual resellers. ARP will only make them with a minimum order of 5 sets (40 pieces). I'm happy to coordinate another group buy if you can find four more participants.

If you want a used set I can hook you up and if you want a new set of the ARP bolts I have a set of those as well.

Thanks for your feedback. I have read these bolts should be replaced because of a stretch issue. Can they be reused or reconditioned?

I have reused rod bolts in my race motor, but I NEVER go over the stock red line. If I was building a motor that required new rod bolts, IMHO that would automaticly qualify the motor for a nice new set of steel rods

I have 3 sets of used 931 rod bolts. I will FPI them and then glass bead them. Like Daniel said they will be fine. You can get a new set of ARP rod nuts from Ideola I think.

Give EBS Racing a call, they sold me some ARP bolts not that long ago.
http://www.ebsracing.com/

They're a bit expensive (but better prices than I found everywhere else), but on the happy side, you won't ever need bolts again. The only thing that sucked was that they didn't have nuts and had to use Porsche nuts which were something like $7 a pop.

Very happy with mine.

I am self-funding a new round of production on these bolts. See details here: http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=41557
