Gavin
Looking good!
From recollection, it seems to me that there is an awful lot of material on the adapter plate itself. If it were me, I think I would remove material from it rather than the TB. I don't see why you couldn't remove as much as a quarter inch and be OK. Might need to do some minor porting afterward. Also, if you are considering a phenolic spacer, adding an extra quarter inch there might also alleviate some of your fitment problem...between the two, you could gain 1/2 inch of clearance!
As for the linkage, the two bolt holes on top of the intake plenum are used on LHD cars to hold the throttle linkage. Why couldn't you just rig up some tiny little guides and route the throttle cable around two posts and pull it from that side? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

pocketscience, for what reason you are using turbo intake manifold? |

The turbo intake manifold runners are a bit longer than the NA's, which moves the plenum to the LHS of the car by about an inch or two. Due to the Weber TB he's using, it would interfere with the fuel rail, so the 931 intake manifold helps by providing add'l clearance.
At least I think that's the answer _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Will the arm ot come off then you can turn it 180*.
My Audi TB needed the arm swappign and they appeared to be fairly standard spindles. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

Nah, because the return stop sits higher than the arm itself - dumb design. Will try snake the cable around the other side like Dan suggested. Might need a longer cable though.
Vemser, Dan's explanation for the 931 manifold is spot on...
That adapter plate is about to go on a diet...

Well if you want it it's yours I think 'cause it's a bees dick too short to snake around the other side of the manifold from the looks of it... _________________ Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about Porsche!

Tried to take a photo of the 931 and 924 intake ports and they didn't show off the differences very well.
If you take a look at this pic of a 924 port the green that I've added was filled in and the red I've added was cut away to make the 931 port. The 931 port ended up being a 38mm circle rather than the oval shape of the 924.
This would probably be what a professional would do if you gave him a 924 head and said "fix that".

Thanks Peter, that helps alot - and matches some research and experimenting yesterday.
If this were destined to be a race car I'd pull the head and get it done, but for the time-being I'll simply do some minor mods to the manifold - that would have to be marginally better than leaving it as-is (completely unmatched).
Is JB Weld really suitable for that sort of application? I've never used it, but it sounds like extraordinary stuff if that's the case!

JB Weld is rated up to 315C (600F). Don't know what temps the intake ports get up to but I can't see them getting anywhere near that. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

I'd be more worried about the jbweld breaking up and getting sucked into the motor.
Nice fuel rail, shiny.

Yeah I imagine you couldn't just slap it on - but would need to key it to give it something to hold onto.
FR courtesy of the Todd-meister - shiny indeed. Valve cover is going on a black ops mission soon. _________________ Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about Porsche!

My TB had an arm stop and a throttle stop IIRC it was just the arm stop that had to go. It was in the way and redundant when I swapped the arm over.
No pics, but probably only applies to certain models of Audi TB thinking about it.... _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...
