How about a FG 951 front bumper conversion?
Done right would look great and still be as light as the current one.
Car looks great btw.
For some reason i like the front arches...ever tried to do the same for the rears? _________________ https://www.the924.com |

Come on give it up, I have better things to do on the car than worry about the bumper
Tastes are different and this bumper is polyurethan which means it is flexible and does not break after slight bump. Fiberglass is not so.
And I don't like 951 bumper so much at all. Rears have fg 944 flares because I had them laying around, that's all.
This is not a show car and it never will be, it is a tool for fun on the track and sometimes on the streets also.
EDIT: I will do some more body mods on it, but it is also purely for functionality, not necessarily looks.
Planning to fit a splitter to front and diffuser to rear, not decided on the rear wing yet.
First I want to get some start data with the new track and go from there. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Very cool car and the wheels are just perfect for this kind of racer. _________________ Mikko

Yep, my goal is to find some badass wheel like that but black.....What make are these?
Ply wood splitter with 10 cm stick out and that runs back to the front cross beam will give you significant high speed stability. If your cooling can cope. Rear diffuser should be doable if you cut out spare wheel well and cover up beneath the gearbox/rear susp. to get more decent underbody flow.
But as you said, better start driving the thing and then fine tune when everything is sorted _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Wheels are BBS RS 8x16 and 9x16.
Rear wheel well is already cut and I have aluminium sheets ready to make the diffuser, plywood front splitter was exatly what I thought of. Thanks!
Cooling can cope easily because the hot air exits through opening in the hood. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

The battery died and I decided to gut him and give him a new life using modern technology:

Mostly because the a123 prismatic LiFePo4 cells were readily available, compatible with the standard battery case (length and width), 20Ah capacity (7 Ah seems a bit low for a car, I have functioning lights etc also) and they were cheaper than readymade battery.
Plus the battery is fully fittable to standard locations without much modification.
The battery is very powerful, 1st I made this kind was used by my friend on his Jaguar S-Type R (4.0 supercharged V8 ) and it went through winter without a problem. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Thats very cool. Can you simply charge it with the 13.8v coming from the alternator or do you need to build in a special charger that limits the amperage? (so the cells don't explode) _________________ Porsche 924 2.0 Kompressor 136.1wHp @ 5650rpm / 201.9wNm @ 3900rpm (dyno @ dp-engineering.nl) |

I used these cells (4 pcs):
They are used for example on Fisker Karma.
You can charge them directly from alternator but voltage regulator has to be 14.5v (so that 14.0v reaches the battery).
I have balanced charger also to occasionally check the balance of the cells (good to do ~once per month or so) but unless you drain the battery completely it will not affect at all. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Went to the dyno today, learned that the turbo is too small Because raising the boost did not result in higher hp.
But at 0.8 bars (spiking to 0.9 on spoolup) results were not too bad, ~270 hp and 370 Nm.
Here's the graph (power is rwkW and rwNm). I had few runs where max power was ~5-6 hp more and few runs where max torque was also 5-6Nm more but counted those out as measuring errors.
And here's a short vid of the one run:
