I just mentioned this in another post, but in a little more detail I've owned my 924 for more than 5 years now. I've only been able to drive it consistently just over two months ago. So, pretty much anything that happens with the car is exciting to me right now - please keep that perspective as you read on.
I am getting between 30 and 32 mile per gallon in my car right now and I am elated. After finally getting the car running, registered, and insured it has been my daily driver all summer. I parked my 02 Impreza Outback Sport to give it a rest - plus it only has 2k fewer miles on it than the Porsche.
Other than the K&N air filter, the car is stock. This what I run:- BP 92 octane(US) gasoline
- Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic Blend 5w-30
- K&N Air Filter
- Shifting gears between 3k and 4k rpm
- 44 mi daily commute (one way) with upto 10 miles bumper to bumper on any given day
I'm no hypermiler, and not trying to be one, just cruising to work in my twofoh. I really like this car.
[edit] updated my commute statement - 44 mi is one way _________________ 924.org (no time to complete)

You clearly need forced induction. Shaggy is getting right around what my 4.0 Cherokee gets.

In these times of high fuel prices i sure do envy the mileages you guys are getting. i myself am getting i`d say about 13 mpg (city driving), and i also shift between 3000 and 4000 rpm. _________________ 1979 924 U.S. version

No doubt you are! I know many a modern, supposedly economical car that'd be shamed by of that kinda city mileage.

Really?! I never got better than just about 25mpg (measured reasonably accurately, not just a guesstimate) and that was with pretty gentle driving. I didn't think a Turbo could get 30mpg. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I drive 60 miles round trip to work. I topped it off, made two trips and filled it back up. It took roughly 4 gallons. I did this twice to double check.
My odometer is not working so I could not check it any other way. _________________ 1981 931 |

Remember, US gallons are small -- about 1.2 US gallons per everywhere else gallons. _________________ 78 924 NA

Not that I doubt you. Just didn't realise they could get that kinda mileage.

Well, being a psuedo-Canuck, like the rest of the civilised world, I work in litres. And being Australian, I spell litres correctly But seriously, in Australia the default unit of fuel consumption for automobiles is 'litres per 100 kilometres'. My car was getting just under 10l/100km's at best -usually less -which, for arguments sake, is near enough 25mpg (10l/100km's is 23.5mpg in round numbers). And yes, I am using U.S. gallons for the conversion. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

on that Nuerburgring-Geneve-Davos-Stelvio my CGT like 924 did ~32 US MPG or aobut 37 UK MPG or ~7.4-7.5 L/100Km and i'm sure it can do more if less girlfriend bagadge and no Nordschleife and Alps in the way.
I'm sure that a sleek 931 with less weight slimm tires(i have 245/40/17) and no mountaims to climb can do more.
The best MPG will def. come from a turbo engine...the 2.5 is too big and too thirsty so my money goes on the 931. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

My turboed '83 924 NA gets 7,4l/100 km on highway (100-120 kph) and 10-11 in the city driving. Mileage was worse when it was qithout turbo and had CIS. Gee, increase power almost two times and get better mileage I like it! _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

I guess its thanks to having a real inj.system. But if you use two times the power the fuel consupmtion wont be that superb
I seldom drivethat economical, since i dont drive it to work anymore. But at highway 120-130 km/h it did 7.3 l/100km when i ran on a weekend trip of 1200 km. I once did a whole tank of petrol on one trackday. That meant 17.3 l/100km. This is with my 924. I wonder how my s2(not the 944 ) engined 931 will do when i finally get it to stop smoke.. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo
