Yes, I have read the FAQ's and Tech Section.
Yes, I did read over 5500 threads.
No, I am no Tim* .
And yes, I know how to use the Search button and Multi meter.

…So I never took time to register, and bother you with questions.
I'm really sorry I've let this most unique forum down…

Sir, please accept my apologies?

Y/N

…in the past two years i've managed to get most of the gremlins out of the petite beast called 924 and will continue fighting them (they return ) as ordered by the boards enormous wealth of knowledge.

I guess I'll say hello to every one here.

My real name is D'Arcy and I came into posession of my 1980 931 just over a year ago now. It didn't run when I got it but I've since managed to make it run. It isn't registered or insured yet so I haven't had the chance to learn what it's made out of (steel, carpet, plastic and glass excluded)

I spent the last couple of weeks reading up and down these pages and have finally decided that I'd join in the on the fun.

Just so you know I'm 21 but I'm no idiot when it comes to machines, I grew up on a farm and still have access to my dads shop (complete with hoist) and have always done all my own work on my cars.

Hello to all
My name is Chris Im new to the site and this is my story

I think this is pretty interesting

So my Birthday was the 16th of April.
We go out to my Parents house for Easter Sunday, And my Step-Father Says
"You WANT this OLD Porsche"
I say "Huh, Sure what is it?"
We walk behind his garage and this is what I see

Then he says its a 1977 (the funny thing is i was born in 1977)
So first I say OLD??? then I say Hell Yeah Ill take it!!!!!!
We get to talking about how he came to own it and it turns out he got from a guy who owned a taxi company for $100.00.
The guy who owned the Taxi company got it from a Tow service That got it from a police auction over 20 years ago

Then My Step-Dad says "yeah its a racing edition, this thing handles like its on rails"

"Cool" I say but i was thinking "He has never been in a Porsche so of course it will handle like a race car"

Then he shows me this

And said it was on the center console

I got home and looked it up and asked him a few questions
1. Did it have red-ish carpet?
"yeah I took that ugly carpet out soon after i got it"
2. Did it have seats with red inserts?
"yeah but stan (Taxi Guy) took them out because they were awful"
3. Did it have white rims?
"yeah but they were so dirty that Stan painted them silver"

he still had the back seat

which is in great shape

So I am going to try and put some life back into it
wish me luck

i pickedup my 924 from a guy my mom works with. i am in the Coast Guard and recently got stationed in CT(i'm from Mass). so i went to my moms house for the first thanksgiving in 4 years and saw two porches in her backyard. after a month or so of dropping hints to my wife(begging) i bought the one of two that runs(Guards red of course). and here i am.
funny part, the guyi bought it from is a member of this site and my car is listed under his name in the registry here.
oh and great to be a part of this site. very helpful so far...

Hi All
I bought my first Porsche, a 924 Turbo! It doesn’t run and has been sitting for a while, last licensed ’05.
I’m familiar with CIS and hope to get this car running again, if the motor is toast, I’ll probably part out the car. Don’t really know yet.
I’ve been reading all the stickys, this one’s great, thanks; 931 Resuscitation - how to resurrect a long-dead turbo http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=22724
Lots of nice, informative and knowledgeable people here I hope to learn something from.
