Just got this car The former owner parked this car in the last five years. How to get this car running, what are the parts(tire, battery, belts, etc) need to be replaced? How much $$ is need to fix this car? Any good mechanics near new york city area? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

First and foremost- read the garage & tech section above and do a search.

Lots of Info on restarting a car thats been left for years.

Armed with the knowledge, check over the car and if you get stuck ask more questions.

Don't even look at turning the engine over until all the belts have been done

Before you buy the car, inspect the balance shaft and timing belts to see if they are broken. If broken, know that cost of repair will be at least $3000-$5000.

Put the tranny in neutral, roll car onto a flatbed towtruck, and proceed directly to a competent Porsche Dealer for FOES (front of engine service).

Expect to pay $2,000-$3,500 to get the engine running properly, and replace missing or damaged or worn-out parts.
