I had some old rusted slightly leaky lines so I'm replacing them. Found a viable set that look in good condition. Is there anything to be aware of when replacing these other than just following the Haynes/service manual procedure? _________________ '78 924 N/A |

Watch for residual pressure in the fuel system. If the car has been running recently, there will be quite high pressure and you can spray fuel everywhere. Wear safety glasses, have plenty of rags and a fire extinguisher nearby. Make sure battery is disconnected. Use good quality box end wrenches or line wrenches on the banjo fittings to avoid rounding them off. Ideally, you should consider replacing the crush washers, but at minimum, insure that none of the old ones are galled from previous over-torquing. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Yes, gasoline is extremely dangerous.
Make sure you have your last will and testament completed and ready before even thinking about looking at those injector lines with a scary face. You may also want to consider doing this job in the middle of a very large empty parking lot so there is less chance of blowing up an entire residential neighborhood.. Also calling the local fire department to get a pumper truck standing by and possibly also EMS couldn't hurt..

I've had mine apart 100 times and no leaks, just be nice to the mating surfaces and don't over torque and strip something..
I imagine http://www.specialtauto.com/ has any and all crush washers and fittins etc. you could ever want.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
