hello all,
well i saw a ad for another 924 and thought i would go and check it out since it was cheap and maybe buy it incase i needed any parts in the future......long story short i go and look at it and it needs a clutch but thats all. Its in really good shape and runs mint (82k on the clock) and its the exact colors mine is.
So im thinking that i am gonna fix it and drive it to help me keep the miles off my other 924s

BUT - the dash is all cracked and stuff like that really bugs me (maybe i have a little OCD) so my question is can i buy a new dash from porsche?
i looked in the PET and couldnt find a part number. yes ive thought about a dash cap but they dont really look that good. got any ideas?
thanks in advance

Before you go any further, READ THIS.

The plastic dash caps aren't really that bad if you get a good one and install it correctly (with adhesive-backed velcro to allow the cap to expand and contract independent of the dash). This will prevent the cap from cracking. When properly installed, IMO, the plastic caps are almost indistinguishable from the stock dash. The only people that will notice it are folks from 924board!

I don't believe you can order a new dash from Porsche, and even if you could, it would be STUPID expensive.

There are a few options for having the dash refinished:

The guy that owns 928 Leathershop is local to me, and a member of the PCA and the 928 Owners Club. I've never met him in person, but by all accounts he does fantastic work. I think you can get a recovered 924 dash from him for like $700, provided you send him your core.

Seems to me Gohim has/had a brown dash for sale, brand new in the box. Not sure if it's still available.

Ebay dude! Where else! They were custom made for our cars... haven't seen the guy selling any lately though. Let me try track down his contact details... was over 12 months ago that I got em...

I had a dash cap on my last 924 and you could hardly see it. I used RTV to hold it on and clamped it all around. Unless you knew whar to look for you wouldn't have known. I had that car for about 11 yrs. and it mostly was parked in the sun when I wasn't driving it. It never cracked ot warped.

I plan to use one of these on my present car when i get to finishing the interior.
