I am getting sick of sucking in carbon monoxide fumes.
How do you reseal the rear hatch? In the technical section, it looks like it involves messing with the glass, which is way beyond my ability. |

What you need to do is actually to replace the weatherstripping. Expensive, but not difficult. The rear hatch reseal procedure is for re-gluing the glass to the frame of the hatch.

| No you do not have to remove the hatch, just open it up, pull off the old seal and put in the new one. Doesn't require any tools, although a rubber mallet can be used to seat the seal firmly. The factory seal is available on EBay, or you can just order similar weatherstripping from JC Whitney for about 1/3 the cost. The same stuff is probably available in GB. You may need to adjust the latch pins on your hatch for a tighter seal also. Just requires a screwdriver and a wrench for the lock nuts. |

| Be sure to give those locking bolts a shot of penetrating oil before you put too much "umph" on them. I snapped one off on mine. Luckily, I had some spares. Not too tough to find if you go gorrila on it by accident. |

Pay special attention to the area around the hinges. I found this area difficult to get the seal to seat properly. When you pull the old seal off clean the body seam where the seal sits. It's an easy job to do.
