The left (driver's side) lowbeam headlight will not work. I replaced the bulb and the fuse, as well as cleaning the ground points and I am still not getting anything. The rest of the lights (highbeam on the left and low/high on the right) all work. Any ideas? _________________ 1987 924S-first car, daily driver no more

The wiring on these cars is 20 years old.
Some cars are suffering internal breaks in the wires (in or near the headlight buckets) due to metal fatique as the wires are flexed from the headlights going up and down. |

I have had light go totaly out on me but they always come right back on when I turn them off and back on again. Think mine may have somthing to do with the high/low beam switch or relay as it usaly happens after
switching alot. _________________ Red 1987 924S with plans for D Productions Kit

Yeah, test the wires themselves; the connections can be great, but I've seen too many split and damaged wires in my car to not consider that route. _________________ 1987 924S: Very much in love with it, even if it's all finnicky |

My car just developed this exact SAME problem...Headlights were working fine, then the driver's side light completely stopped working...brights work fine tho...
Any other thoughts on what could be the problem? If it were wiring, wouldn't both high and low beams not work? _________________ -1977 924, 4-Spd...Gone

No, just because the high beams work, doe snot mean that the low beams should work as well.
There are there wires going to each headlight, ground, high beam and low beam. You could very well have a broken low beam wire, and good ground and high beam wires. |

Ok...well I wiggled around every wire/connector behind the headlight I could get my hands on...and the headlight didn't flash or come on at all...
Then I got into the car, and revved the engine slightly, and headlight turned on...it hasn't turned off since, and currently seems to be working just fine...
However, when I went to take the pics I put in my new thread...I noticed that all of the lights on the driver's side of the car (indicators, parking, and side markers) were not working at all...the headlight was still working fine tho...any ideas? This car sure has some weird issues. _________________ -1977 924, 4-Spd...Gone

I had the same problem, follow the wire from the headlight there are plastic ties, usually the wire stresses around the headlight cover near the plastic tie.
Mot liely right under the plastic tie.

Might also be connector problem/s at the fuse-relay board. The fun-easy test is to reach under and wiggle the wires behind the board and see if that has any affect. Of course if that has no affect, that doesn't prove that there's not a problem there.. -But the wiggling's easy. If you want to try it, wiring for the left headlight, both hi and lo beams are on the "A" connector. While the right headlight, again both hi and lo are on the "C" connector (just in case you want to concentrate your wiggling on the appropriate connector for your specific problem).
