Hi all. Can anybody recommend a decent coolant for my 924S?
I used to use Mobil Advanced Antifreeze but can't seem to get hold of it anymore.
Would VW G12 be suitable, as it is phosphate free? Can't get hold of the Zerex that our colleagues across the Atlantic seem to recommend.
Best Regards |

I have purchased some Prestone Extended Life antifreeze at Wal-Mart that is phosphate free - it is sort of a pink color when diluted.
From the Prestone website:
"For those consumers who would feel more comfortable using a phosphate-free antifreeze, our Prestone® Extended Life 5/150 Antifreeze/Coolant is phosphate, silicate, and borate free."

Ever since I found out about VW and Porsche's recommendation for phosphate and silicone free coolant I have used the VW branded stuff, which was made by GAF and sold under the Saab and VW brand names. I am sure that that produce the stuff under other names as well, but I don't know what they are.
Beware of any brand of coolant that states that it is aluminum-safe or alloy safe, or radiator, engine, and/or cooling system safe without specifically stating that it is free of phosphate and silicone compounds. |
