I believe the 4:11 used in the 80-82 US 924 would fit.

I've just bought a 4.78:1 out of an audi diesel, but won't know for sure if it'll fit for a few weeks. Will let you know when I've tried it.

They should both work. The only ones they won't fit is the 944 S/S2 and 951. In these the front pinion bearing is larger and the pinion shaft is 4mm longer than all previous 016's.

Yes, the shorter ratios will work in the 924S transmission if you can find them. NLA for many years from Audi/VW. My advice if you can find one:

- Have it tested before installing, especially the pinion gear. I use a dye penetrant test (Magnaflux makes the kit I use) which will reveal surface cracking.
- Have the pinion depth set using the factory VW385 tool set. Correct set-up is critical to keeping the pinion from breaking. Bluing or eyeballing it doesn't work.

Good luck!
