Any suggestions what brand to pick?

Centerforce stage I or II seems highly recomended amongst Ford drivers.
Exedy and Daikin are OEM quality to bargain price.
Sachs Heavy Duty, then I have to buy a whole kit including PP. $$$
Valeo? OEM
SPEC, as kit but stage I-IV.

Would like something that can handle trackdays as well as street driving.

The Sachs plain Jane, regular, normal ordinary clutch is cheap and works fine.

If you're drag racing I dunno.

Read this thread

Then do a search on centerforce...I came up with 17 threads on the topic, and there's some pretty good reading there...

Sachs would be my #1 choise, but the point with cheap upgrade is lost when paying $180 for the HD kit.

IŽve read the Centerforce posts as well as searched the web. Seems like a good performance clutch. The problems occuring might referr to 1/4 mile runs and other clutch abuse.

A banned former member did have Centerforce in his 924 GTR racecar. Others have tried remanufactored items, cheap no-name.

SPEC got a similar reputation as Centerforce according to reviews.

What about the Borg Warner 90236 Brute Power Clutch Kit? NASCAR sponsor doesnŽt say much, but BW are tranmission experts.

Exedy and Daikin are for japanese cars.

I've heard too many bad things about Centerforce to ever want to even give them a try - and these from road racers!!!

I did have a coworker who was into drag racing, had VERY good success with a clutch from I think it was ClutchNet (www.clutchnet.com). It stood up to an impressive amount of abuse. This was in a street car that drag raced a lot, think he got it at least into the 13's, was a Pontiac Fiero (still full interior, etc) but with a minivan 3.4L V6 engine swap running a turbo with an IC. Badass car. Never got around to getting a ride in it yet, will have to do so one of these days...

I noticed it says CLUTCH KIT. Did that include PP, HD Disc, Release Bearing, Pilot Bearing & Alignment Tool? I figure I'm dreaming but had to ask! I'm also assuming the above description fits S2 turbos.

It was the clutch disc only, but noticed that you can get it for $35 elsewere. Not a bargain...
The HD clutch kit cost $170-$200

When's the install. . .I seem to remember one minor clearance issue that needs modding. T'would be a fine How-To.

As I recall, they may just need a light filing of the splines in the hub to make the disk fit and slide easily. Numbbers mentioned doing it when he installed one. ..This is for use on the 931.
Some intrepid soul here also performed more extensive mods to fit one to a 924S (disassembly and reassembly with spacers (washers) nuts and high-grade bolts).

gegge, any update on the SD1041HD?

They seem to be a bit hard to find as the disc only in the heavy duty application...

The disc is still on the shelf I am afraid. I got my hands on an early 930 unit that will fit instead. Funny as the 930 used a 240mm disc and this one measures 225mm...

It is my intention to replace the old engine and clutch this winter. (Together with a lightened flywheel and VERY light 915 pressure plate.)

Yes, Sachs 1861568331

I bought it new on Ebay and confirm the 225mm diameter and a quick search with Google releves it is made for Porsche 911 turbo (930).

The splined centre for the axle is deeper than the Bronco clutch, but except from that the same measurements and physical dimensions.

I canŽt upload the picture from work, but if you are interested IŽll do that from home.
