I'm trying to figure out the best way to connect 2.5" i/c piping and the toughest part seems to be figuring out how to connect the 1 5/8 turbo outlet to the 2.5" piping that goes to the intercooler. I'd like to keep the airflow as smooth as possible. Also, as one faces the engine compartment from the front of the car, I need to make a sharp left turn and come forward to connect to the i/c in the space in front of the RF wheel well.

Fab up the factory charge tube?
Nitrile adapter?
Hand fabricated metal transition pipe?
Pancake batter funnel?

If you've installed i/c piping, what did you do coming right off the turbo to transition into your system and can you post a few pics?

You should take a piece of stainless pipe with turbo outlet diameter and press it into conical shape, then TIG-weld it to 2.5" intercooler pipe. That's the correct and neat way to do it.

Easily doable if you have hydraulic press.

I know I can fit a 2-inch silicone hose (90 degree elbow) over mine, but then it's not a stock turbo. You should try getting an elbow in your diameter. Try eBay or just google for it That's not THE right way, but it... works.

Also, for me, I had to use a 2.5 to 2 inch reducer to get the stock charge pipe to connect to the turbo, so you might look into that as well.

Good ideas. Thanks.

I looked into silicon and nitrile but I felt the temperature specs were too low -- nitrile degredation allegedly started in the 200-230 range and I felt that's what the charge temps might peak at, pre-i/c. So I was worried about a hose failing because of the temps. It just seemed the material wasn't suited to that gap right at the exit of the turbo -- hence my question about how to connect the turbo to the rest of the world.

How's your silicone holding up? What boost levels are you running and what kind of turbo (you said non-stock...)
