I,VE JUST HAD THE 931 S2 MOT DONE (yearly check to see if car is safe to drive in the uk), SO AFTER 4 YEARS SHE,S BACK ON THE ROAD, THE DRIVE TO THE GARAGE TEST CENTRE WAS THE FIRST TIME I,VE DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE I BOUGHT HER AND GOT HER RUNNING, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK AND SHE PASSED THE TEST, BUT!, THE GUY AT THE GARAGE SAID HE HAD PROBLEMS TURNING THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL,BUT WE PUT THIS DOWN TO THE LSD BOX , ON THE WAY THERE AND BACK THE CAR DROVE AND CHANGED GEAR FINE WITH NO PROBLEMS, BUT AS I GOT HOME AND DRIVNG UP TO MY GARAGE SHE SEEMED ABIT STIFF TO MOVE, I PUT HER IN THE GARAGE AND SHE WAS HARD TO PUSH BACK AND FORWARDS , CAME BACK ABOUT HALF HOUR LATER AND SHE MOVED FINE BACK AND FORWARD, SO I JACKED THE REAR OF THE CAR UP AND THE D/SIDE WHEEL WAS HARD TO TURN , TOOK CALIPER AND DISC OFF AND IT WAS STILL HARD TO TURN, SO IT,S NOT THE BRAKES , IS THIS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE DIFF OR SHOULD IT BE LIKE THIS AS I,VE NOT DRIVEN A CAR WITH LSD BEFORE. I,VE TRIED THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR AND THAT,S NOT AS HARD TO TURN, BUT STILL NOT FREE. AS ALWAYS ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. RIK

Rik,

With both wheels of the ground they should turn easily - limited slip diff or not. To determine whether the problem lies in the transmission disconnect the drive shafts at the gearbox side and try turning the wheels. Rear wheel bearings could be tight or the CV joints on the drive shafts could siezed.

Bruce.
