I'm almost done with the top of the engine, so I tried to put the alternator back in. Apparently I'm missing some junk that goes inbetween the alternator and its bolt/mount. Basically, all I have is the bolt with a rubber "washer" at the head, the alternator, the belt, and the bracket. What am I missing? How does it look like? I have a feeling it's at the bottom of my "useless parts" bin
Is there any alternative, hopefully smaller alternator that I can fit without much work? I could use some space up there. |

On the smaller alternator topic - no, I don't think you'll find one substantially smaller. They're all roughly the same size. In fact I upgraded to a Delco CS-144 alternator with about double the amp capacity of the OE Bosch unit and it's the same size as the Bosch.
If you need any of the rubber mounting parts, instead of paying $14 each, fabricate your own out of rubber hose. That's what I did when I installed the Delco - used the OE bolt, some copper tube as bushing material to make that bolt fit the Delco alternators' mounting holes, and the rest was done with various sizes of rubber hose, steel washers and small sections of iron pipe were used as spacers. _________________ "..it's made in Germany.
