You gotta love old parts. Trying to take the starter ring off the clutch/pressure plate, one of the pan head bolts with the inner hex drive, whatever it's called, stripped. Any suggestions to get it out now? Do they make some special tool to get those type of bolts out? _________________ ==============

I wish you luck. I know they make tools for normal stripped hex bolts. Hex socket caps i have no idea though. I would have to imagine that someone does have a tool for it though.
I took that off the other day and luckily nothing stripped. Clark's Garage has a small section on 'waking up' old bolts, i used that on them, can't tell you if it worked or i was just lucky, but in the future it can't hurt to try it. here's the link. _________________ 1987 Porsche 924s (summer project)

Can't you "just" drill off the bolt head. Use a sharp bit, keep it oiled, and drill in just enough to remove the head. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Yah I can drill it out. I just wondered if there were an easier way. Once you drill out the head how do you get the threaded part out? I may try the dremel to make a slot on the head and them use a screw driver. _________________ ==============

Once the head is off you might find that it is loose, the tension in the bolt will be relieved.
I had to cut my driveshaft bolts off as they instantly stripped out or broke tools. I applied my Angry Grinder and chopped all the heads off, they remaining studs unscrewed by hand. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

I may be picturing the situation wrong, but once all the bolts are out and that bolt head is drilled off, don't you remove the ring? - then have part of that bolt sticking out where you can grab it with vise-grips..? _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You're probably right. I didn't think of that. _________________ ==============

Listen to smoothie when he says to keep it oiled. The last thing you want is to snap off a drill inside the stripped bolts. Managed to break a drill bit in a deep hole at work the other day. Ask me how fun it was to get that out. _________________ 1987 Porsche 924s (summer project)

If all else fails and you end up with a bolt in a hole you can't remove. You can use a gasaxe(oxy/acetylene cutting torch) to blow it out. And then use a helicoil to fix the threads when your done. I've also used diegrinders with carbide bits to grind bolts out of holes also. Works well.
