I just replaced the head on my 1978 924, put it all back together and it wont fire. Got spark, the fuel injectors spray when pushing the funny diaphram up in the air box, and lined the cam up by the lil hacksaw sorta notch on the crank and the timing dot on the cam with the rocker cover. it's sparking when the cam is lining up with the dot and marker on rocker cover.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Disregard the mark on the crank pulley and ensure that the notch in the middle of the inspection hole in the bellhousing lines up with the 0- on the flywheel. Recheck cam and dissy timing now.

Where is the inspection hole in the bell housing? which side of the motor? Looks very cramped under there to me.

On the left side behind the inlet manifold and brake booster.
This is where you shine timing light to set timing.
The flywheel should be marked +10.0.-10. 0 should correspond with top dead centre. Set the dot on the rear of the cam gear in line with the pointer on the cam cover.

hey flame,

watch out! There are Dot-Marks on both sides of the cam-wheel!!
They have a quarter offset,so make sure its installed the same way then before.

This happened to me. The mechanic flipped it after a rebuild. (the deeper indent should be toward the engine with the flusher side of the wheel facing out)
