I was looking through their catalog last night and noticed that they claim that a 7.5" wide wheel will fit the front of an 87' 924S and a 9.5" wide wheel will fit the rear of the car as well. Is this correct or are they flat wrong? I have been told by everyon that 7" and 8" are about the max for this car in stock form. If the 7.5 will fit the front what size tire for 17" wheel. Also, if 9" will fit the rear ...what size tire? What would these offset have to be to assure that I won't rub?
Thanks,

Jason

If you crank up the car stereo they won't rub.

My car came with stock wheels, but; wider tires (225-50R16) in the rear. They rubbed

I have 16x7.5 wheels with an offset of 38 on my '79 with 225/50 tires on all four. The front tires rubbed without spacers (the rims didn't rub), but the backs are fine. I would recommend 205/55r16 for the fronts so you don't have to use spacers. I wanted to use spacers anyway, the front took 1/4" spacers to not rub, and I put 1.25" spacers on the back just to get extra width, and they could still go out another inch, I suspect that it wouldn't be a problem to put 9.5" wheels on the rear (as long as the tires fit) as there is lots of extra space back there.

I have 16x8's all around. The fronts are quite close, but the backs have another good cm of safety margin. The problem is the 205/40/16 tires. Too small for the rims for street driving, the right side rims got gouged on a curb. Not by me! You can run a low profile 215 on the front, but it might rub. You can maybe run a low pro 225 on the back, but I'd go with a 215.
