Looking to replace my shift knob with a more stylish one. Momo has a nice looking carbon fiber/leather on (p/n 402-853 Combat Shift knob). Will this fit on my 924S? Does the original just pull right off? I can spin it and it feels like it just pops off, but I'm afraid to try (in case it doesn't) and I break it in the process.

Thanks,

Jim

Yes, the original can pull off, once you pull the clip under the shifter boot, but I'm not sure that the standard aftermarket stuff like the MOMO knobs (heh heh, he said knob!) will fit right on, as I understand they're designed to screw (heh heh) on a shaft (I have a filthy mouth!)

OK, I'll shuttup now, I recommend you give Tweeks or whomever a call...

I put an aftermarket shift knob on my 924. I originally didn't alter my shift "stick" at all, but I did take it out and weld a few beads and then grind down the shaft to round. You can look at the finished product at:

My knob is model 100605 on that page. I got it for $29.95 from a local autoparts store (called "Schmuck's"). That knob worked okay without any modification to my stick, but I eventually decided to modify the shifter stick so it would be a more perminant solution.

I also added some more to my webpage with regards to the gemballa body kit I am puting on my '79 924.
