im thinking of buying one to help with voltage regulation, ie not losing power when i need it. do they work?

Not possible in an automotive environment. This should be a clue that the product is no good. You'd be better off upgrading your alternator to a higher capacity Delco unit. See Smoothie's previous posts on this.

Wow, look at all the wonderful things that will happen if you just hook up the 2 wires to your battery. I think it will even help my thinning hair and make me irresistible to the ladies!

Probably just a large capacitor.

what about those ignition boxes? i forget what they are called, but i see them at autozone for about 250

Actually this product can be very beneficial if you are running a large sound system....
If ;
It is a capacitor and the farads match your amplifiers draw on the battery i.e
if your amp is 500W then you would need a 5 farad capacitor.
There is of course no rating on this particular model so your guess as to it's effectivness is anyones guess.
BTW a 1 farad capacitor is around $30 - $99 for a branded model such as rockford fosgate etc the price jumps quickly for anything in the 3 -5 farad range.
