i've recently bought my car and i just realized that i have a white sludge substance in the coolant tank and on the coolant tank cap. what is this caused by?
also, i have a leak of green fluid (antifreeze i believe)that leaks down through the skidplate. someone told me it could be the water pump with that pulley connected to it and that if the water pump seizes, it could cause the timing belt (which i assume is connected to that pulley), to slip off and bend valves...is this true and what else could cause the leak and how should i go about fixing it? (17 years old and don't know mechanics very well)

Sounds rather like you're due for waterpump, belts, rollers, and seals. Check under the 944 resources, it's the same engine. Do it now, as the oil on the belts can also degrade them and cause them to snap, end result same as the waterpump seizing, it'll trash the head.

Sounds like the PO didn't have the car properly maintained.

but the belts are completey dry and the oil doesn't seem to get to the belts.i know hardly anything about cars so i'll take it to jiffy lube or some other place and get a tune and up and see if they can do that stuff i guess. :/

Hey, aren't all you guys forgetting that he has a Honda engine in that thing. Why don't you just take it to a Honda service place/dealer? I also own a Honda on top of my Porsche, and obviously it's very reliable, your motor shouldn't be leaking or anything. It must be a problem with the engine swap itself.

Um, k....I wasn't making fun of you, I was just trying to help. I have no problem with you having a Honda engine, like I said, I also own a Honda. Not the most exciting car, but a good one. And I never said anything about my car being faster than yours, just giving advice because I noticed ALL of the other replies you got treated your car as if it had the original engine, which might make them pointless and lead you in the wrong direction wouldn't it!?!!
