The board is experiencing on-going problems with getting confirmation email to people becoming members and getting email through to people with AOL accounts. This is not a problem with the board software.
New Members
There are two problems regularly occuring when people register themselves; they either enter their email address incorrectly or give an email address which doesn't work because the account has been cancelled, suspended, is over it's allocation or refuses email from senders you don't specify.
Here's a tip; we don't send spam. The only time you'll ever get an email from the board (after the sign-up email) is to tell you that another board member has sent you a private message or when you tick the "notify me of replies" box when you post.
Bottom line; if you register and don't receive an email within 10 minutes with a link to complete the registration process then there's something wrong with the email address you used. If this happens, email me (my address is at the bottom of this post) and tell me what username you registered with and I'll see if I can help.
Russian Addresses;
If you give a inbox.ru email address email is never going to get through to you. Those guys bounce everything and then send me an email asking me to submit a written proposal explaining why my server should be allowed to send email to their server. hahahahahhahah
Get a hotmail address.
AOL
AOL is taking a very long time to process our notification emails (new message received for you or registration email). This is probably AOL's way of reducing spam as the board does not have a real email account so will fail one of the simplistic spam tests.
Because of this, notifications sent to AOL members can take up to a day to get through. Not much I can do to fix this. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

I keep getting "Invalid Session" messages. Does this have anything to do w/my new AOL or Zone Alarm settings? It only happens when I post a reply like this.
EDIT: I went to post a "Woo hoo" of success, thinking I'd gotten it to work but then got another Invalid Session message. Seems to be a cookie thing I need to check in my Zone Alarm firewall or something.
EDIT #2: But it lets me edit this message w/no error message. Weird.
EDIT #3: Nope, not that time. Error message again. |

The `Invalid Session` is a weird one that I haven't been able to find a good answer for and I haven't been able to duplicate.
Sometimes it's caused by Zone Alarm but then I'm using Zone Alarm and I don't have a problem although I do have the Privacy and Identity Protection switched off.
Sometimes it's caused by the Google Toolbar.
Sometimes it happens when a lot of search engine `bots are indexing the site at the same time.
I have read that if you click the Preview button before you Submit a post then you don't get the error. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

I'll switch my zone alarm settings and do the preview and see if that helps.
Thanks Peter. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |
